Is Roam Research Better than Coffee from Starbucks?

You wouldn’t expect it.

I love coffee and Roam

I’ve fallen in love with Roam. I started exploring it in April and have been using it every day since then. Taking book notes, planning my week, capturing, and connecting ideas … I do everything in Roam.

Today, Roam’s pricing model went finally online.

Roam costs $15/month ($180/year) or $500 for 5 years. photo

For me, a 17-year-old student, this pricing model is overwhelming. Indeed, there is a discount of 50% for students. Now, that makes $7.50/month.

Have I ever paid $7,50/month for an online writing tool? Nope. Yet, surely I could afford $7,50/month if I really wanted to. That’s two cups of coffee from Starbucks.

Here is the point: I never buy overpriced coffee from Starbucks.

As much as I’ve fallen in love with Roam, I still have some concerns with it.

  • Roam has no mobile app at this point.
  • Roam can‘t guarantee full data privacy.
  • Roam is hyped and hyped products are expensive (see Starbucks).
